To complete multiple turnarounds simultaneously on a fast schedule, with no injury or re-work

In some projects, the challenges stack up. Simultaneous turnarounds required Optimal to provide hundreds of highly qualified craftsmen for multiple locations – all on a very tight schedule with millions of dollars in revenue at stake for the client.

Even as we had to navigate new rigging requirements and permitting processes, we delivered a team of 450 skilled craftsmen with no problems or timeline extensions.

Project details

Getting both the Baytown and Baton Rouge facilities back up and running quickly were critical to this client’s needs. These sites rank among the largest and most advanced refining and petrochemical complexes in the world processing hundreds of thousands of barrels of crude oil per day.

Completing the full scope of the turnarounds in a very narrow window was key for both the client and Optimal’s success. “Money and time are extremely important when you do a turnaround,” says Shane Doss, President of Optimal Field Services. “Instead of earning a million dollars a day, they were spending it.”

Key challenges included:

• Large staffing and management requirements to complete multiple turnarounds.

• Working through added logistical processes and procedures.

• Completing an ambitious workload on schedule with zero injuries
